We are very fortunate to have the one-and-only Jim Tubb come and teach this abstract painting class at kwartzlab!
You may have seen Jim’s work hanging on our Art Wall back in July, or in his studio at 321 Duke St. West (he’s in the former Schippling Bike Shop, right around the corner from kwartzlab’s former Boehmer Box Factory location).
In this workshop participants will come away with two finished paintings on peg board, each 12″x12″.
You are encouraged to come prepared with a subject to keep in mind while you are painting. The idea is to create a work of art based on an emotional experience (high or low), examples could include, music, gardening, a trip you went on, a beautiful sunset, remembrance of a person or time in your life. You are welcome to bring a photo to use as reference for colour and shapes. The focus will be on expressing emotion through abstration, rather than creating a true representation.
This is a beginner painting class, no prior experience required!
