Meet Meg. She has a background in interior design, works part-time for Manulife Insurance, but finds her passion in doing creative things. She took a trip to Philadelphia in 2010 for a mosaic workshop with her 2 teenage boys and hasn’t stopped tiling since! Meg is currently working on a community art mosaic wall for the House of Friendship that will be composed of people’s hands that they have tiled during one of her “before-hand” workshops (see photo below).

James Bastow’s & Agnes Niewiadomski’s tiled hands.
She goes by the pseudonym MegLeslieCreative so as to not paint herself into a corner- she loves all things creative. She is excited to spend time at kwartzlab and use some of the amazing equipment available, especially the laser cutter!
During her residency, Meg will be working on a top secret mosaic project that unfortunately we cannot announce until May since it is for a competition! She will also be working on a number of smaller projects as well to sell at craft shows and studio tours.
Meg is also running an upcoming event called “Flirting with the Arts” that gives members of the community an opportunity to try their hand at 6 different types of art-making (chosen from 12 possible workshops!). Two of our kwartzlab members will be running workshops for this event (myself for needle felting, and Ryan Consell for some metal repoussé and chasing!). More details about this fantastic event here and it’s all going down on Sunday, February 9th! Tickets are selling quickly, so get yours today! You can also check out the Facebook page for this event here.
